How To Make Shoes More Comfortable – Tips For Shoe Problems

Getting a new pair of shoes is really fun because you get to choose any style that you want, a style that will show everybody who you are lets you express yourself. There are many different types of shoes and each one comes with their own problems. The fact of the matter is that some shoes are more uncomfortable than others, but that does not mean that you can’t wear them because there are a few good solutions to all of your shoe problems. Today we are here to talk about how to make shoes more comfortable. We have a ton of tips for shoe problems that you may be experiencing. There are lots of shoe problems and we have tips to help solve them all.

Sandpaper

One thing that you can do to make your shoes more comfortable and to make them work better for you is to use some sandpaper and grind down the soles a little bit. Shoes often come with grip on the bottom, but in the beginning it may be too smooth and not give you as much traction as it should. Therefore to give you some more traction you can make the shoe soles a little rougher by sandpapering them.

Baby Powder

Using some baby powder in your shoes is actually great for a number of different reasons. First of all if you have really squeaky shoes, a great way to cut down on that annoying noise is to put a thin layer of baby powder on the inside. This will fill in the cracks that are causing your shoes to squeak. Another thing that baby powder helps with is odor and moisture. A little bit of baby powder will go a long way in controlling foot smell and for absorbing moisture. Too much moisture in your shoes can cause blisters and nobody wants that.

Band-Aids And Clear Gel Deodorant

As we touched on before, one of the biggest issues when it comes to shoes, especially new ones, is that they can cause blisters due to too much friction on the inside of the shoes. A great way to make your shoes more comfortable and to get rid of blisters is to put just a thin layer of clear gel deodorant in the areas where you are prone to getting blisters. This will decrease the traction you experience and will give your shoe some glide and will therefore not rub off your skin so much. Of course you can also wear a few Band-Aids in the areas where you usually get blisters. This is to create a barrier between your foot and the shoe. If you have the money you can even buy a specialized gel designed just for this purpose.

Specialized Shoe Insoles – Orthopedics

Something that may be causing your feet a whole lot of pain is the fact that your feet need arch and heel support, but aren’t getting those things with the shoes that you are wearing. Without proper arch and heel support your feet aren’t held up the way they should be and that can cause a lot of pain with prolonged walking. This is especially true if you have a foot condition that makes your feet roll inward or outward too much while walking. The best solution to this problem is to get specialized shoe insoles that give you that much needed support.

The Shoe Stretcher

Another thing that you can do to make your shoes more comfortable and to make them fit better is to use a shoe stretcher. This is a device that can be placed inside of your shoes and using a crank you can widen and lengthen the stretcher inside of the shoe in order to stretch them out in the desired way. Therefore, if your shoes are too narrow or too short you can use a shoe stretcher to make them fit perfectly. Be aware that you can only stretch the shoe so far and only in small increments or else you will risk damaging the integrity of the shoes.

DIY Insoles

The next thing you can do to make your shoes more comfortable is to make some DIY insoles. Simply cut a piece of fabric to match the shape of your shoes. Use a fabric that is soft, but not slippery because the point of this is to stop your feet from slipping around inside of the shoes. Slipping around in your shoes can be very uncomfortable, make it hard to walk, and cause blisters too. A small piece of fabric can solve these issues in an instant.

The Time Of Shoe Shopping

Something that you may not know about your own feet is that they get bigger as the day goes on. Walking around all day causes your feet to swell, something that can throw off your shoe shopping. If you go to buy shoes in the morning and buy them as a size 9, by the time the evening comes by your feet might have swollen up to a size 9 and a half. Therefore shoes bought in the morning may not fit by nighttime. Therefore the best solution to this problem is to do all of your shoe shopping in the evening or better yet at night time. This may not make your existing shoes more comfortable, but it will definitely make sure that you buy shoes that are the right size for you.

Big Socks And A Blow Dryer

One of the most uncomfortable parts about wearing new shoes is the fact that they usually need to be broken in. Shoes generally need to be broken in to make them slightly more comfortable. Breaking in shoes is an uncomfortable process because new shoes can be very tight and cause blisters too. An easy way to break in shoes in a comfortable manner and in a really quick fashion is to wear some really thick socks, heat them up with a blow dryer, and put on the shoes. Just walk around like that for a while and your shoes should be broken in quickly. To make this process even quicker you can also blow dry the shoes from the outside while wearing the socks on the inside. The heat helps them to stretch out nicely.

The Toe Crushers

The next thing you can do to increase the comfort in your shoes is to stretch out the front. This is especially important for rounded shoes that become narrow in the front and tend to squish the toes. An easy way to stretch out those toe crushers is to but a sealable plastic bag filled with water into each toe and put it in the freezer. Once the water freezes it will expand slightly, thus also stretching out the front of the shoe to accommodate your toes better. Another thing that you can do to make those toe crushers slightly more tolerable is to tape together 2 toes, the big toe and the one beside it, in order to save some space.

Fix Those Heels

One type of shoe that can be extremely uncomfortable is the stiletto or high heel shoe. Women everywhere love to wear these shoes because it makes their legs look a lot longer, but of course fashion can hurt. There are always a few things that you can do to make those high heels a little more comfortable. First of all, some high heels don’t have very good tips, but you can solve that problem by adding on some instant heel caps. These will make it easier and more comfortable to walk. Another thing that you can do to make your heels a little more comfortable is to cut up to once inch of the heel off. This won’t ruin your high heels and will make them a little shorter, thus providing you with some extra relief.

Your Flip Flops

Another type of shoe that we want to talk about quickly is the flip flop. These shoes are great for the summertime, but they can cause quite a bit of irritation between the toes and anywhere else where the straps touch your feet. The easiest way to solve this problem is to get some old fabric that you don’t want anymore and wrap it around the straps. This will provide a little layer of cushioning between your skin and the straps, thus stopping the discomfort.

Conclusion

We know that wearing uncomfortable shoes is not fun in the least and that is why we are here. We really hope that our tips on how to make shoes more comfortable can help you wear your dream pair of shoes without causing you pain and discomfort.
